BE CRAZY
BE CRAZY
A little while ago, our staff attended a masterclass with two students who speak English fluently and with almost no accent. The idea was to learn about their journey to achieve this level of proficiency and to get some tips. One of the pieces of advice we received was “to be crazy,” but the meaning was that we should expose ourselves without worrying about what others might think of us. This advice is very powerful, especially now, living in a judgmental society where people love to criticize others.
We are afraid to talk “like a child” (this was a real fear of one of our students), we are afraid of seeming ridiculous, and we are afraid of being judged by others. That’s why incorporating the “crazy” mindset into our lives can be transformative. By letting go of our fears and embracing a playful attitude towards learning, we free ourselves from the weight of people’s opinion. And more than this: And if we can adopt the mindset of being “crazy” in our approach to learning English, we can break free from the chains that hold us back and truly enjoy the process.
